Important meeting about money

Hey everyone.

We had a meeting about spending today (communal food, elektricity, internet, ecetera). You can find the details of the meeting in the document

We also felt the need for a new meeting (at least i did) about some important subject. I think there are some issues that should be decided on that evening. Inclusive but not exaushtive:

  1. Is the money that gets paid for the fridge and the washingmachine (and other investments) refundable or not (eg should new people chip in for already bought stuff?)
  2. How much should be the minimum in the reserve money emergency fund?
  3. How long should we take to fill that minimum?
  4. Should rentor´s agreement (3 months notice) be paid up front, or will part of it be payable with the already paid deposit.
Please comment on a time for meeting, but I think it should be BEFORE THE 9th. With no consensus, we hold it thursday the 5th.

We held the follow-up meeting Thursday 05 February 2009

These points, more or less, were discussed:

Is the money that gets paid for the fridge and the washingmachine (and other investments) refundable or not (e.g. should new people chip in for already bought stuff?)
It was agreed, generally, that the responsibility for the appliances should be divided equally among the Initial Group members over a one year period.  If someone leaves before one year a decreasing portion will be returned to them based on an as-yet undecided metric.  We still need to confirm how much less is returned for each month a person stays. Is it simply the indvidual portion of the total divided by 12?

How much should be the minimum in the reserve money emergency fund?
How long should we take to fill that minimum?

Previously, a consensus was made to create a reserve.
It is noted that there is now an objection as to the necessity of the existence of a reserve fund.

Two sides:

 1.  Reserve Fund Desirable: Everone, together, paying an equal portion of 3 months warm rent:  possibly distributed over a ten month or more basis, paid monthly; to subsidise emergencies,i.e. immediate departure of all residents.
    a) kaution/deposit returned immediately
    b) payments made to reserve returned immediately:
  upon departure

2.  No Reserve Fund:
    a) kaution/deposit paid up to 8 weeks after departure
a suggestion of paying rent one month in advance was made in order to allow some leeway for emergencies; this does not work for everyone.

No agreement

Some would like to start an ongoing, online discussion related to this, in order to allow everyone time to clearly express their opinions.

Should rentor´s agreement (3 months notice) be paid up front, or will part of it be payable with the already paid deposit.

We did not discuss this point.  It is proposed to add it to next meeting's agenda.
